The Perfect 'Lil Day

The Cliffs of Moher has been at the top of my to do list since the day I decided I was going to Ireland. This past weekend I finally got the opportunity to check it off my list. You know those high hopes you set for something and then they never seem to turn out the way you want them to? Well, the Cliffs exceeded any expectation I had.

The Cliffs are about 3 hours away from Cork we had to get an early start, meaning we had to wake up at 6:45am. Luckily, our bus picked us up right outside the apartments so we had more time to sleep. During the drive I was just amazed at how stunning Ireland is. I've never seen a greener place in my life. Before we got to the Cliffs we stopped at a little beach town where people were surfing?!!?!?! I'm not kidding when I tell you it wasn't even 40 degrees outside. Anyways, our tour guide was super awesome and instead of taking us up the touristy side of the cliffs with all the railings we got to hike up the other side. He dropped us off at the bottom of the trail, said "okay no one die!" and that was it. The "trail" (I don't even think you can call it that) was so muddy and everyone was slipping and sliding. Definitely a place you want to wear good shoes!!! The muddy hike was absolutely worth it because the entire time our view was nothing like I've ever seen before. Since there was no rails we had the opportunity to get nice and close to the edge of the cliffs. Honestly, I was a bit scared because the wind was whipping and I was not trying to get blown off the cliffs. I eventually made my way slowly close enough to the edge where I could get the full effect of the place but not too close. Let me just say WOW. When you're standing on top of a 509 feet cliff looking across the ocean it just takes your breath away. It makes you feel so small. The ocean is a blend of blue and green that creates perfectly white waves which crash up against the cliffs. I'm still in awe. I've never seen such amazing views. Eventually, we walked all the way to the touristy side of the cliffs with the railings. Let me just tell you now, if you ever get the chance to go to the Cliffs of Moher use Irish Experience Tours!! We got to explore a completely different side than most people are shown which had way better views, in my opinion. But if you ever find yourself in Ireland, the Cliffs are a must.

The perfect day bled into the night when we went to the Franciscan Well, a local brewery which also serves pizza. The Well has a heated beer garden where you can eat your pizza while drinking some beer. Outside had a cute eclectic feel with lanterns and wooden tables. We ordered a pizza that had potatoes on it and had a flight of beer to wash it down. The night ended with me winning 41 euro at a casino.

Thank you this weekend, you were good to me.

Hey Logan!
