Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog. This will be a place dedicated to all things study abroad. Let's get started!
Here are a few things you may want to know before following me on this journey:
I am a junior at Iowa State University studying Marketing and Leadership
I am originally from Denver, Colorado
I will be studying abroad in Cork, Ireland
I have never been to Europe
This is my first time blogging... like ever so bear with me
I decided to make a blog for many reasons. First being, I wanted to make a space for people to catch a glimpse into what I'll be doing abroad and maybe inspire them to study abroad. I also wanted a space that I could document my experiences so I would be able to look back on them once I am back in the United States. Lastly, I want to push myself in my skill set. I am applying to be a social media intern for the Study Abroad Center at Iowa State. Not only will I get to further my writing skills and reflect on my time abroad but I will also be getting valuable career experience. As a marketing major a social media internship would be a valuable facet to achieving my career goals. I hope my experiences can be the final push for people interested in studying abroad.
Now let's get into the fun part.. why did I decide to study abroad? I have always loved to travel and explore new places. Thankfully, I have the best parents in the whole world who foster this passion of mine and always encourage me to pursue my dreams. I have been interested in studying abroad since I heard about it at orientation before my freshman year. However, I never thought about it seriously until this past summer when I began to browse the Iowa State study abroad website. I learned I could receive Iowa State credit for all of the classes I was taking and that all of my scholarships would apply to my tuition while abroad. I knew this was something I needed to pursue so thus began my search for a destination. I've always been drawn to Europe and I wanted to study in a place that not many people I know had been. I wanted to make my own experiences and explore a place I knew nothing about so I landed on Cork, Ireland. I can't wait to get out of my comfort zone and explore this new place I'll get to call home for 5 months!
Thank you all for reading!
